I adopted a color today

See, it’s a long any complicated story, with twists and turns, and a few pit stops in between.

OK it’s not really that long, but follow anyway. See, I was on X (formerly Twitter) — which is apparently how it’s supposed to be named (sans italics), if the news websites have anything to say about it — and one of the guys I follow, Victor, reposted a video.

Back when I worked at the ESG firm, I worked under a really Tallented guy named Richard. He followed this guy named Victor who would post daily UX tips. I followed him too, on Telegram.

Because not enough people use Telegram and I felt I should be one of the few.

See, he reposted this video by someone that was a dumbed-down version of the below video. This short animation is called Nuggets and I became obsessed with it for about 14 minutes. Enough time to track down the original version, watch it in its entirety, and comment on the original post about how this one is so much better.

But since i was on the page, some of his other posts shows up. And that’s how I ended up at the Color Pizza!

(btw this is the first time I’ve pasted a link from X (formerly Twitter) on this blog, and I don’t know what the style or design is gonna end up looking like; come to think of it this is also the first time I’ve pasted a video from YouTube here; this whole post might end up looking like someone’s ugly stepkid!)

So I got obsessed with this one for like 20 minutes, loving the interactivity of it and marveling at the detail page for any given color.

Then I thought to myself, Self, I thought, why don’t you see if your BSPDX brand colors show up there? So Idid. I went over to The Bootstrap Paradox and grabbed my HEX colors from the inspector. The blue one linked to an unrelated color, but the RED one….!

The red existed on the site! And it was called Red Menace!

I felt like it was fate. So I adopted it.

Come to find out I instead adopted a very close but not actual color to the one I wanted to adopt.

You don’t know how mad I am that the site led me to believe I was adopting #aa1f1f when in reality I was adopting #aa2121.

Infuriating.

Infuriating!

Update:

I understand how the site works a little bit better now. See, the ≈ was not very prominent so I missed it when I was first viewing my beautiful color. I see it now. and no, I am not going to request a refund. I’m fine with this.

It’s fine.

I’m fine.
